Case Studies – Social Enterprises
The goal of most social enterprises is to stand on their own two feet. To reach that goal, many social enterprises still need funding – to establish themselves or to help them flourish and grow.
As with other types of project, funders can sometimes wonder whether value for money is being achieved – and that’s where the Questant Process comes in.
Here’s a brief Case Study highlighting our work with social enterprises.
Social Enterprises
A community cleaning company had been set up as a social enterprise. It provided a comprehensive range of cleaning services to commercial customers including local housing associations and community premises like halls, sports barns and community centres. The company’s employees came from two main groups – those with learning difficulties and those recovering from substance abuse, including drugs and alcohol. The employees wanted to eventually return to mainstream employment. However, few employers would currently contemplate employing them.
The company was trading well but still required funding from outside sources, namely the local Council and the local Housing Association. Questions were asked as to whether the funding given was proportional and whether a positive return was seen.
The Questant Process was applied to the community cleaning company and a substantial ‘return on investment’ in both social and public purse gains was seen.
